Ayala Museum Exhibit Highlights La Naval and Dominican Heritage

On 15 July 2026 (Wednesday), brothers from the Dominican Province of the Philippines attended the launching of Ayala Museum's exhibit titled "Turning Tides: Maritime Encounters and Exchanges of Power." The exhibit, which will run until February 2027, features two important events which occured at sea: the Battle of Mactan and the Battles of La Naval.

In featuring the Battles of La Naval, the exhibit displays artifacts and artworks from both the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, La Naval de Manila (those that are currently deposited in the Museo de Santo Domingo) and the Dominican Studentate.

More than a mere presentation of facts about these two battles, the exhibit was installed in order to "explore how commerce, culture, and religion transformed societies across the region—and how communities in the archipelago navigated these shifting tides."

In highlighting the enduring influence and relevance of the lore and devotion concerning Our Lady of the Rosary, La Naval de Manila, the exhibit also acknowledges the contributions of the Order, whose presence in the country began in 1587 and continues to this day, both in the spread of the Christian faith in the country and the propagation of the devotion to the Holy Rosary.
